This is Plotinus, one of the greatest geniuses, subtle soul, strong character, and here is what he wrote in Ennead IV:
“It happened often, I came to myself feeling that I was stepping out of my body. Although separated from other things, centered on myself I see a beauty that is magnificent. And then, more than ever, I became aware of my unity with the sublime order; my activity is the highest stage of life, I become one with the divine; I establish myself in it by having reached that activity … And yet, the moment of descent comes … and after this sojourn in the divinity I wonder how it happened that I now descended, and how the soul could even enter my body.”
